Port Jefferson Students Serve Early Thanksgiving Feast to Seniors
Middle School student council planned and fundraised for the annual event.
The student council in Port Jefferson Middle School held its annual Senior Citizens’ Luncheon for members of the Port Jefferson Senior Center on Nov. 14 serving up a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, according to the school district. The dinner was catered and paid for by the student council through fundraisers throughout the year. Parents contributed to desserts for the meal.
“We talk with them about everyday life, serve food to them and do everything possible to make sure that they have a good time,” said Sarah Hull, a sixth-grader.
Student council members are representatives from the sixth- through eighth-grades who planned the event with group discussions and brainstorming sessions to come up with ideas for setup and decorations. Their club advisor is Allison Giannusa.
