Here are the top stories today in Port Jefferson:
- Longing for some Holiday cheer? Long Island Theaters are gearing up to bring audiences fun, fantasy and festivity this season. It took artistry, extra creativity and even a puppet master to craft a stand-in for "A Christmas Carol's" Tiny Tim to bring beloved holiday fare back to stages in time for the season. (Newsday)
- Long Islanders will pay more for electricity, but officials say enhancements are also coming. Long Island Power Authority customers will see a 2.3% increase in their delivery charge. Costumers complain that everything else seems to be going up and there is doubt that services are any better than it's been. LIPA CEO, Tom Falcone, say the price increase is due to higher power supply prices and natural gas costs. (News12)
- Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 27 in Port Jefferson. Its a day to support and celebrate small business by shopping locally. The shops are preparing special deals and will be ready to show their products and to serve the community together. (Port Jeff Chamber)
- The Bridgeport and Port Jefferson Steamboat Company has transported passengers since 1883. Most of us refer to the entire operation in port as “The Ferry.” It is a fixture in the lives of Long Islanders and travel across the sound is almost second nature. There’s history here. At a recent member meeting of the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce, we learned a bit worth sharing from the company’s General Manager Fred Hall.
