Sea Shanty And Maritime Festival Set For Port Jefferson Saturday

There will be singers from New York, New England, and the U.K.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The Greater Port Jefferson-Northern Brookhaven Arts Council is hosting its 3rd annual Port Jefferson Sea Shanty and Maritime Music Festival Saturday.

The event, co-sponsored by the Folk Music Society of New York, will run from 12 to 8 p.m. at the Jeanne Garant Harborfront Park Stage by the Village Center.

There will be live performances by well-known singers from New York, New England, and the U.K. who will sing the songs of the sea. It will include performances by Alan Short and Deirdre Murtha, Bonnie and Dan Milner, David Jones, David Littlefield, Geoff Kaufman, Heather Wood, John Roberts, and Joseph Morneault.

The festival will end with a grand finale concert featuring all the musicians.

Festival attendees can explore the history and techniques of wooden boat building, presented by Long Island Seaport and Eco Center, meet pirates all around the village, and take part in face painting.
