Here are the top stories today in Port Jefferson:
- A passenger in a vehicle that crashed into a pole on the Southern State Parkway in Hempstead died Sunday, according to the New York State Police. The vehicle was going westbound at about 1:15 p.m. on the Southern State, west of exit 22, when it left the roadway and struck the pole. The driver and two passengers were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. A third passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries. A fourth passenger was also taken to a hospital, and died from injuries sustained in the crash. State police ask anyone who witnessed the crash or have information about it to call 631-763-3300.(Newsday)
- The Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s 42nd Annual Holiday Festival will return on Sunday, Dec. 5 from noon-6 p.m. at the Stony Brook Village Center, with Santa, performances, displays, activities and more. This is an entirely free event. The festival will feature music from WALK 97.5 throughout the day, Wiggs Optician’s Holiday Train Display, carolers, a performance from Roseland Dance Studio, and a petting zoo. The Bethel AME Choir will be returning to help brighten spirits with a performance. (tbrnewsmedia.com)
- St. James Fire Department Engine Company No. 1 will hold its second annual St. James Community Holiday Gift & Toy Drive-Thru on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Gyrodyne/Flowerfield in St. James from noon-4 p.m. Visitors will enter via the entrance on Route 25A. Donations of an unwrapped toy or gift card are requested. This year, multiple St. James organizations are collaborating on the event. (tbrnewsmedia.com)

Theatre Three's 37th annual production of the iconic Charles Dickens tale a 'Christmas Carol' has certainly became a beautiful tradition in Long Island. Even with slight changes throughout the years, this ageless production is more spectacular than ever. Jefferey Sanzel, the artistic director of the Port Jefferson venue celebrating its 51st season, directs the dazzling play running through Dec. 26. (Broadway World)
