RIVERSIDE, NY — A Coram man was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision in connection with being caught with a loaded pistol modified to function as a machine gun and several ounces of cocaine, Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney said Wednesday.

During the early morning hours of March 3, 2023, Suffolk police executed a search warrant at David Wilson’s home in Coram, and he was found eight ounces of cocaine, a loaded pistol modified to function as a machine gun with an extended magazine, packaging materials, a digital scale, and more than $11,000 in cash, prosecutors said.

Wilson's record stretched back to June 2003 when he was convicted of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, and in August 2004, he was convicted of fifth-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to prosecutors. In January 2016, he was convicted of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, prosecutors said.
