Cops ID Man Who Died After Being Struck By Hit-And-Run, 2nd Vehicle In Port Jeff Station

He was struck in a hit-and-run and then a second vehicle on Friday, Suffolk police said.

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY — A 47-year-old Terryville man has been identified as the person who died after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene and then another vehicle before dying on Friday night in Port Jefferson Station, Suffolk police said.

Peter Williams was crossing Route 112 eastbound, south of Rose Avenue, when he was struck by an unknown SUV that was heading southbound on Route 112 and did not stop at around 10:13 p.m., police said, adding that a second southbound vehicle struck him but remained at the scene.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

The investigation is continuing.
