  1. On Dec. 1, on the second floor of The Port Jeff Village Center will be a month long extravaganza to kick off the holiday shopping season. Businesses, civic associations, nonprofits professionals and even our local residents who have a knack for holiday crafting, are invited to share their expertise and enthusiasm by decorating one of the many available trees.(Port Jeff Chamber)
  2. Rainy and windy conditions could impact Thanksgiving travel early next week.
    There is a threat for showers Sunday evening into Monday afternoon. Gusty winds could also delay flights around the area on Tuesday. (News12)
  3. Suffolk elected officials have picked what they say is the right spot for a relocated LIRR Yaphank station, near Brookhaven National Laboratory. County Executive Steve Bellone and Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine announced Friday that they had selected a location just east of the William Floyd Parkway, and south of the Long Island Expressway, for a new Yaphank train station. It will provide the strongest connection to the world-renowned Brookhaven National Laboratory and the East Yaphank community. (Newsday)
  4. The Smithtown Historical Society will host a Community Wreath Contest with a deadline of Dec. 1, at the Roseneath Cottage. Open to all, the wreath must be a minimum of 12″ to a maximum of 24″ in diameter. Any materials may be used. Wreaths will be displayed at the historical society’s Heritage Country Christmas Fair on Dec. 4, and the public will select the winners.
