The Dish: Celebrating the Big Apple at Long Island Dogs
Breaking down local eats, one dish at a time.

Long Island Dogs is a recent addition to the Port Jefferson Station area, opening up in the Three Roads Shopping Center in April. From among several hot dogs on the menu named after famous cities, Patch decided to sample the "Big Apple."
The Dish: Big Apple Hot Dog ($3.25)
What's Inside: Coleslaw – yes, coleslaw on a hot dog – along with hot relish, brown mustard, celery salt and a pickle.
Eat This Because: The Big Apple might be known for its food truck hot dogs, but this one from a brick-and-mortar eatery is worthy of a city's love: Just a little bit of heat, with a hearty crunch from the cole slaw and pickle alongside the savory hot dog itself.
Side Dish: Pair it with a vanilla shake ($3.95) and you've still got a filling lunch for under $10.
