Town Plans To Condemn House In Port Jefferson Station

A landlord in Port Jefferson Station will be receiving a slew of violations after a town law investigator and building inspector deemed it unsafe.

A home in Port Jefferson Station has been added to a list of condemned houses that Supervisor Ed Romaine plans on taking action with by speaking to landlords, administering violations, and closing down the property if necessary.

The home recently added to the list, 33 Weldon Lane, is a single-family home that has a multitude of violations. According to a statement, the town law investigator has been working with a building inspector to condemn house that "illegally contained 11 bedrooms," among other violations.

The plan is to issue tickets to the homeowners for all of the violations found.

“I commend our Building and Law Departments for taking swift action to condemn these houses,” said Romaine in a statement. “Our number one priority is the health and safety of the residents and if the properties are in violation of Town Codes, closing them down sends a clear message that these unhealthy conditions will not be allowed to continue.”
