Weekend Guide: Kitten Shower, Benefit Breakfasts, Warrior Run

Beyond the shopping, dining, fishing and boating for which Port Jefferson has become known, here is a sampling of some other noteworthy events in town.
Pets
- Save-a-Pet's first annual "Kitten Shower" starts at noon on Saturday and Sunday, featuring adoptable kittens. Volunteers and donations of kitten food and supplies are also sought; details here.
- There will also be an art walk and pet adoption event in Port Jefferson village on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
- Join Boy Scout Troop 45 and Cub Scout Pack 41 for a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning at the Port Jefferson Fire Department as they fundraise for summer camp.
- There will be a country breakfast served on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. to benefit veterans at the American Legion Post 432 on Hallock Road in Port Jefferson Station.
- Head down to the Farmer's Market in Port Jefferson starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday in the parking lot of the Frigate.
- The annual Warrior 5K Run to support Comsewogue athletics will be held at Comsewogue High School on Sunday morning. Registration starts at 7 a.m.; race at 8:30. Details here.
- Take the kids to the Maritime Explorium on Saturday at 1 p.m. to make a rain stick using natural materials.
- Theatre Three's latest show is "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," which will be performed at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.
