Woman To Be Sentenced In Fatal Port Jefferson Trail Stabbing: DA
She pleaded guilty to manslaughter back in April, Suffolk DA's office says.
RIVERSIDE, NY — A woman who pleaded guilty in connection with the 2021 stabbing death of a man on a walking trail in Port Jefferson is scheduled for sentencing in a Riverside court on Monday, Suffolk DA Ray Tierney's office said in an email Friday.
Tiffany Diaz-Cabrera, 21, of Port Jefferson Station served as a lookout while Jose Martinez Vasquez stabbed Benjamin Flores-Mendez and pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter back in April, according to Tierney's office.
Martinez-Vazquez, 25, admitted to fatally stabbing Flores-Mendez, 39, of Port Jefferson Station, on the Setauket-Port Jefferson Station Greenway Trail, and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, Tierney said.

Flores-Mendez was later discovered lying in the entrance of the trail by good Samaritans, police said. Suffolk County homicide detectives arrested Martinez-Vazquez and Diaz-Cabrera on March 5, 2023, according to police.
