Woman Critically Injured In Suffolk Crash

A woman was making a left turn when another vehicle collided with hers, police say.

CORAM, NY — A woman was critically injured in a Coram crash on Tuesday morning, Suffolk police said.

Rosemary Kappen, 59, of Medford, was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion southbound on Route 112 when she tried making a left turn onto Barone Drive around 6:10 a.m., police said. Her Ford was struck by a southbound 2006 Toyota, police said.

Kappen was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Toyota, a 75-year-old Eastport woman, was brought to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
