2 Elderly Nassau Women Scammed Out Of More Than $25,000: Police
Jaime Castillo, who faces several charges, had claimed to be a lawyer representing the victim's grandchildren, police said.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A man has been arrested for a pair of scams that involved elderly women in Port Washington and Hewlett Harbor, police said.
Jaime Castillo, 36, of the Bronx, defrauded both victims on the phone by claiming to be "Raymond Allen," a lawyer representing the victim's grandchildren, police said.
He told victims that each family member had been arrested and needed cash for bail. Castillo would meet the victims to receive the cash, police said.

On June 2, 2023, a 90-year-old Port Washington woman was defrauded out of $17,600 over two days, authorities said.
On July 24, 2023, an 89-year-old female victim from Hewlett Harbor was defrauded out of a total of $7,700, police said.

A joint investigation between Nassau police and the Port Washington Police Department revealed Castillo was responsible for both incidents and he was arrested without incident, authorities said.
Castillo is charged with four counts of third-degree grand larceny, second-degree criminal impersonation and first-degree scheme to defraud, police said. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in Hempstead.
