Six fire departments helped put out a zamboni fire in the Port Washington Skating Center on Thursday night, according to Port Washington Fire Chief Bryan Vogeley.
The fire broke out while an ice hockey league was using the facility, located at 70 Seaview Boulevard, at 8:07 p.m. All occupants inside the facility evacuated once the Port Washington Fire Department arrived.
Five surrounding fire departments were also called to the scene due to the size of the structure and manpower needed to battle the blaze. One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital.
