Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Cider Seeks Ball-Throwing Partner
Plenty of adorable dogs are up for adoption in North Hempstead. This week we're featuring Cider, who lives to chase a ball.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter. The facility, located at 75 Marino Ave. in Port Washington, houses dozens of dogs — and all of them need a furever home.
At Patch, we round up a list of adoptable dogs for a series called "Patch's Adoptable Pets of the Week." This week, one new dog came to the shelter — so we decided to just shine the spotlight on that resident pooch. Her name is Cider.
The dog-only shelter is facilitating adoptions by appointment only. An appointment can be made by calling 516-869-6311. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cider is a happy girl that has been enjoying her training sessions and has learned a few commands in a short time. She can be a bit unpredictably jumpy, especially when there's a toy involved, therefore we are not recommending her to live with young children at this time. Cider would thrive in an active family that is dedicated to continuing her training.
If you are interested in learning more about Cider you can call 516-869-6311 or email animalshelter@northhempsteadny.gov to request an adoption application.
