Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Lucy Is Gentle, Gets Along With Kids
Plenty of adorable dogs are up for adoption in North Hempstead. This week we're featuring Lucy, who can get along well with children.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter. The facility, located at 75 Marino Ave. in Port Washington, houses dozens of dogs — and all of them need a furever home.
At Patch, we round up a list of adoptable dogs for a series called "Patch's Adoptable Pets of the Week." This week, one new dog came to the shelter — so we decided to just shine the spotlight on that resident pooch. Her name is Lucy.
The dog-only shelter is facilitating adoptions by appointment only. An appointment can be made by calling 516-869-6311. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

LUCY

Info from the shelter:
Lovely Lucy is a mild-mannered sweet 8-year-old girl that is "move-in ready!" She knows her basic commands, is housebroken, and loves nothing more than to be next to you. She enjoys going for walks on our nature trail and can even get a bit spunky outside! In short — "we love Lucy!"

She is a very gentle girl that we believe would get along well with kids of all ages. Lucy has friendly reactions to dogs while walking and outside her kennel passing other dogs; however, we do not believe she should live with another dog in the house.
If you would like to learn more about Lucy please give us a call at 516-869-6311 or email animalshelter@northhempsteadny.gov to request an adoption application.
