Adoptable Pet Of The Week: Luna Is An Affectionate Lap Dog
Plenty of adorable dogs are up for adoption in North Hempstead. This week we're featuring Luna, a dog that loves the outdoors.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter. The facility, located at 75 Marino Ave. in Port Washington, houses dozens of dogs — and all of them need a furever home.
At Patch, we round up a list of adoptable dogs for a series called "Patch's Adoptable Pets of the Week." This week, one new dog came to the shelter — so we decided to just shine the spotlight on that resident pooch. Her name is Luna.
The dog-only shelter is facilitating adoptions by appointment only. An appointment can be made by calling 516-869-6311. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

LUNA

Info from the shelter:
Beautiful Luna is a 3-year-old Pit Bull mix whose family could not keep her due to moving. She spent a few days a bit nervous wondering why she ended up here, but she has since come out of her shell. Luna is a very affectionate girl and enjoys gently climbing into your lap for pets, but she also loves to spend time outside!

She knows several commands, loves our agility equipment at the shelter, and seems to enjoy the company of other dogs. She would thrive with a moderately active family that will provide her with love, walks, and of course — treats!
If you are interested in meeting Luna please give us a call at 516-869-6311 or email animalshelter@northhempsteadny.gov to request an application.
