Adoptable Pets Of The Week: Finn, Jax, Belle
Plenty of adorable dogs are up for adoption in North Hempstead. This week, we're featuring Finn, Jax, and Belle.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter. The facility, located at 75 Marino Ave. in Port Washington, houses dozens of dogs — and all of them need a furever home.
Here, we've rounded up a list of adoptable dogs for a series called "Patch's Adoptable Pets of the Week." This week, we're featuring Finn, Jax, and Belle.
The dog-only shelter is facilitating adoptions by appointment only. An appointment can be made by calling 516-869-6311. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

FINN

Info from the shelter:
Finn is a pointer/ terrier (our best guess!) mix that was pulled from an overcrowded shelter in Georgia and brought to us through The Shelter Connection's rescue program.

Finn is a loveable, sporty guy that lives for a game of fetch! He's very treat motivated and is learning his commands like a pro. Finn is seeking an active family that will be dedicated to continuing his training — he's the type of dog that would love to be out and about! He is happy to meet all people and enjoys the company of other dogs.
JAX

Info from the shelter:
Jax is a 1 1/2-year-old American Bulldog mix sweetheart that was pulled from a crowded shelter in Georgia and brought to us through The Shelter Connection's rescue program. Jax is as friendly as can be, but is a typical "bull in a china shop" that needs training.
He is energetic, food motivated, and super eager to please — he is seeking an active family dedicated to continuing his training which we know he will be a superstar at! Jax gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves kids, however due to his size and lack of training at this point we are recommending that he be with children aged 10+.
BELLE

Info from the shelter:
Belle is a Beabull (Beagle/English bulldog!) that was surrendered to us because her owner couldn't take care of her anymore. Belle is a simple gal that enjoys a nice stroll on our nature trail, chasing the tennis ball, and a few pats on the back.
When she first came to us she didn't seem much interested in treats, but in true Beagle fashion she's come around and is now very treat motivated — she's learned her commands like a pro! Don't let her age fool you — she is a sporty gal that would make a fun walking companion but enjoy relaxing in the house. Belle needs to be the only dog in the house.
