Residents For A More Beautiful Port Washington has an Update on the tree-1-1 notification issued on May 10th regarding a tree that the Town of North Hempstead tagged for removal located adjacent to the Post Office on LuEsther Mertz Place. This tree was tagged because the tree roots were buckling the sidewalk and two trip and fall incidents were reported by the Post Office.
Residents For A More Beautiful Port Washington urged the Town to consider alternative safe measures fix the sidewalk, without taking down this beautiful tree planted forty years ago.
We are pleased to report that Councilwoman De Giorgio consulted an arborist and has in fact identified a safe option to save the tree and fix the sidewalk. We applaud Councilwoman De Giorgio and the Town of North Hempstead for their tremendous efforts to preserve and protect Port Washington's trees.
