Long Island Native Anthony Scaramucci Named White House Communications Director
BREAKING: Scaramucci's appointment led to the resignation of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, reports say.

Port Washington native Anthony Scaramucci was appointed White House communications director on Friday, causing White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer to resign from the administration, according to reports.
According to Times reporter Glenn Thrush, Spicer left over the hiring of Anthony Scaramucci as White House communications director. Multiple reports suggested that Spicer long opposed bringing Scaramucci, an entrepreneur, Fox News contributor and enthusiastic defender of Donald Trump, on to the president's team.
Rumors frequently circulated during Spicer's tenure at the White House that his time as press secretary could be short. In June, Fox News reported that he was offered a more senior role in the administration and would be leaving the press secretary position; that promotion, however, apparently never materialized.

Strange times -- I just went to ask @PressSec (@seanspicer) a question about @Scaramucci. He slammed the door in my face.

In November 2016, Scaramucci was named to Trump's transition team and was reported as a top pick for Treasury. Upon hearing the news, Scaramucci said on his Facebook page that he is “honored to serve on President-elect Donald J. Trump's Presidential Transition Team Executive Committee.”

Scaramucci, a top fundraiser on multiple former Republican presidential campaigns, signed on to join Donald Trump's nascent national finance committee in August 2016 and served as Trump’s campaign finance chief, the Washington Post reported.
Scaramucci grew up with a middle-class upbringing in Port Washington, according to his Facebook page.
“I got a great education in the Port school system," he told Port Washington News. "It also provided a great environment for social growth. The Port community has always been, and remains, extremely supportive of me.”
Scaramucci holds a B.A. in Economics from Tufts University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
