Anthony Scaramucci Removed From White House Communications Director Position

BREAKING: The Long Island native was announced as the communications director 10 days ago.

Port Washington native Anthony Scaramucci has been removed from his position as White House communications director after he was chosen for the role just 10 days ago.

His ouster comes the same day former Homeland Security secretary John Kelly joined the White House as chief of staff.

"Anthony Scaramucci will be leaving his role as White House communications director," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. "Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give chief of staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team. We wish him all the best."

President Donald Trump removed Scaramucci from his position after the removal was requested Kelly, according to the Times.

Scaramucci was announced as the communications director on Friday, July 21, which led to the abrupt resignation of White House press secretary Sean Spicer and the later resignation of chief of staff Reince Priebus.

It is not clear at this time whether Scaramucci will stay at the White House under another position, the New York Times reports.

Last week, Scaramucci unleashed a string of profanities and insults in a conversation with New Yorker reporter Ryan Lizza, mostly targeting his colleagues.

“Reince [Priebus] is a f------ paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac,” Scaramucci said of the then-chief of staff. Later, he targeted another high-profile official in President Trump's administration. “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own c---,” he said, speaking of Trump’s chief strategist. “I’m not trying to build my own brand off the f------ strength of the President. I’m here to serve the country.” He also threatened to fire the entire White House communications staff if Lizza, the reporter, didn't reveal who told him about the dinner, adding that he wanted to "kill all the leakers."

Scaramucci grew up with a middle-class upbringing in Port Washington, according to his Facebook page.

The Long Island native owns the investment company SkyBridge, which he was attempting to sell as a prerequisite for joining the administration. However, the sale came under scrutiny when reports suggested that the Chinese was one of the interested buyers and was willing to pay above market price.

For this reason, Scaramucci had not even officially put on the White House payroll by the time he was fired.

Reports last week found that Scaramucci and his wife are getting a divorce, in part because of his political ambitions.
