Driver Charged With DWI In Xmas Eve Crash: Port Washington PD

Officials in Port Washington said they found a car on its side after hitting a utility pole. The driver was charged with DWI.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A motorist was arrested on Christmas Eve on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Port Washington, authorities said.

Around 2:21 a.m., the Port Washington Fire Department responded to 411 Main St. for the report of an overturned vehicle. Upon arrival, officials said they found a car on its side after hitting a utility pole. The two occupants of the vehicle were evaluated by first responders, but no injuries were reported.

In an interview with Patch, a Port Washington Police Department spokesperson said the driver was placed under arrest after a sobriety test and charged with a DWI.
