Duo Nabbed In Car Break-In Spree In Roslyn Heights, Albertson: Police
An iPhone, multiple credit cards, a U.S. passport and cash were among the many items stolen from cars in the area, police say.

Two men were arrested for breaking into several vehicles and stealing items in Roslyn Heights and Albertson on Sunday morning, police say.
According to authorities, a 58-year-old woman notified police when she saw one man open the door of her husband's 2017 Honda Accord and another man attempting to open her neighbor's car on Shephard Lane at 2:09 a.m.
Police arrived to the scene and located Mateo Leon, 20, and Syed Montasir Rahman, 18, both of Jamaica, Queens, in the vicinity of Amherst Road and Roslyn Road in Albertson.

Police say the men were responsible for the following car break-ins:
- Sept. 17— A 2015 Mercedes Benz on Shadetree Lane in Roslyn Heights. A wallet, U.S. passport and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen, police say.
- Sept. 17— A 2014 Honda CRV on Shadetree Lane in Roslyn Heights. Multiple credit cards, headphones and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen, police say.
- Sept. 17— A 2016 BMW on Argyle Rd. in Albertson. A pair of sunglasses and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen, police say.
- Aug. 31— A 2017 Jeep Compass on Shephard Lane in Roslyn Heights. A debit card and driver’s license were stolen, police say.
- Aug. 31— A 2014 BMW X5 on Shephard Lane in Roslyn Heights. An iPhone 5 was stolen
Leon's Nissan Altima, which was parked in Albertson, contained multiple items that were purchased with a stolen debit card on Saturday, police say.

Leon was charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, two counts of petty larceny, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, identity theft and attempted petty larceny.
Rahman was charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, two counts of petty larceny and attempted petty larceny.
The men will be arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
