Fire Leaves Port Washington Home Uninhabitable, 3 Residents Displaced: FD

A house fire occurred on Thursday night, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A house fire occurred on Thursday evening on Sunset Lane in Port Washington, leaving the home with serious damage, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

The fire was under control within 40 minutes– it left the home uninhabitable, with three adult occupants displaced, fire marshals said.

There were no injuries reported, and residents self-evacuated the home after being alerted by a passerby, fire marshals said.

According to fire marshals, Nassau County Firecom received 911 calls reporting a house fire at 7:13 p.m. on Thursday. There were 50 firefighters on scene, fire marshals said.

The Port Washington Fire Department responded with mutual aid assistance from Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department, Plandome Fire Department, and Roslyn Fire Department, fire marshals said.

Nassau County Fire Marshal Investigators were on scene with Nassau County Police Department Arson/Bomb detectives, fire marshals said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is not considered suspicious, fire marshals said.
