PWCC’s Youngest Learners Visit the Port Washington Fire Department
Port Washington Children's Center students recently had an unforgettable experience visiting the Port Washington Fire Department

The students of the Port Washington Children’s Center (PWCC) recently had an unforgettable experience visiting the Port Washington Fire Department. Children from all four early childhood classrooms had the opportunity to learn about fire safety and gain a first-hand look at what it means to be a firefighter.
The visit was filled with curiosity, wonder and excitement. Children explored the fire trucks up close, met the firefighters and learned about the essential equipment that keeps these community heroes safe while they protect others. From the Daylily Fields class, one child marveled at the sights and exclaimed “the fire truck with its lights on!” From Maple Shores, students were fascinated by the firefighters’ uniforms, noting, “The fireman has a mask, boots, a hat, and a jacket.” Over at Acorn Bay, the loud sirens made a big impression to the wide-eyed students. Teachers in Butterfly Lane reflected, “It was a good experience for the children to see the fire trucks up close.”
The visit not only sparked joy among the students but also reinforced the importance of fire safety and highlighted the incredible work firefighters do to keep the community safe. PWCC extends its heartfelt thanks to the Port Washington Fire Department for welcoming our students and providing such a memorable and educational experience.
