Fire Sweeps Through Port Washington Home; 1 Burned
BREAKING: Video shows smoke and heavy orange flames shooting into the night.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — One person was burned when a garage caught fire Thursday night in Port Washington and flames quickly spread to the floors above, officials said. The inferno ignited around 8 p.m. on Shadyside Avenue, the Port Washington Fire Department said.
Assistant Chief Brian Waterson reported a working fire in an attached garage with vehicles inside. Everyone in the house made it out alive, officials said. One person was hospitalized for burns.
Firefighters placed the blaze under control around 9:45 p.m.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. It is not believed to be suspicious.
