UPDATE: No Injuries in Port Washington North House Blaze

Rescue crews were on the scene of a house fire in Soundview.

There were no reported injuries from a Port Washington house fire in Soundview Friday morning, officials said.

Crews battled the blaze at the Sandy Court home just off Soundview Drive at about 10:45 a.m., with firefighters seen attacking the fire from the front, basement and the roof.

Firefighters ventilated the roof, spewing clouds of smoke through the opening.

Port Washington North Mayor Bob Weitzner, who was at the scene, called in the village’s superintendent of buildings to assist.

“We are thankful nobody was hurt and even their pets made it to safety,” Weitzner said. “The village’s building department will be at [the owners’] disposal when needed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the homeowners.”

Many in the community that have reached out to the homeowners with support, Patch has learned.

Crews from the Manhasset-Lakeville, Great Neck and Roslyn fire departments assisted during the fire.
