Free Sports Clinics Hosted By Town And Long Island Nets This Summer

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The Town of North Hempstead will be teaming up with the Long Island Nets to host six free basketball clinics throughout the area this summer.

"Kids who attend these clinics will be able to pick up new tips and skills from future basketball stars themselves, as the Long Island Nets are the G League affiliate team of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets," said Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena.

Clinics are designed for children, pre-registration is required, and attendees must be residents of the Town of North Hempstead.

Clinics will include:

• Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the "Yes We Can" Community Center (141 Garden St., Westbury) for girls ages 9-15.
• Friday, July 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Broadway Park (151 Broadway, Garden City Park) for children ages 11-14.
• Friday, Aug. 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Whitney Pond Park (981 Northern Blvd., Manhasset) for children ages 7-10.
• Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Clinton G. Martin Park (Marcus Ave. and New Hyde Park Rd., New Hyde Park) for children ages 7-10.
• Sunday, Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Donald Street Park (Donald St., Roslyn) for children ages 11-14.
