Gas Leaf Blower Restrictions Kick Off June 15 In North Hempstead
In the Town of North Hempstead, landscaping companies are prohibited from using gas-powered leaf blowers from June 15 to Sept. 15.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — North Hempstead officials are reminding residents that commercial landscapers are prohibited from using gas-powered leaf blowers from June 15 to Sept. 15.
The Town's landscaping regulations are aimed at reducing noise and air pollution. Commercial landscaping is permitted between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Operations must cease on Sundays and holidays. But those restrictions may be suspended during emergencies, according to officials.
Restrictions will not apply at golf courses and cemeteries, except when equipment is operated within 100 feet of a residential lot.
