LIRR Weekend Work: Buses Replace Trains On Port Washington Line

Hourly buses will replace trains between Port Washington and Bayside as work on the Great Neck track continues.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The Long Island Rail Road announced more schedule changes as work on the Great Neck track continues. Beginning Friday evening and continuing Saturday and Sunday, hourly buses will replace train service between Port Washington and Bayside.

The buses will make all normal stops, except for Plandome. Plandome riders should use the Manhasset bus stop, the MTA advises.

Buses heading west leave 40 minutes earlier than the normally scheduled train departures.

In an email, the mayor of Great Neck Plaza, Ted Rosen, shared that the work will be finished in time for Monday morning's commute.

"They will be doing several different types of track work as they install new switches in the vicinity of Colonial Road Bridge and Grace Ave School and then restore their infrastructure to working order for Monday morning’s commute."

"The scope of work for this weekend will be similar the work that was performed the weekend of the 5th and 6th. Residents in the vicinity of those locations can expect disruptions from construction related activities."
