Local Holocaust Survivor Sharing Memoir In Port Washington
The memoir tells the story of a Jewish child who was separated from his parents and forced into hiding in Amsterdam during the Holocaust.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A Holocaust survivor is set to share his memoir at a theater in Port Washington.
A Hidden Child: A Memoir of the Holocaust with Leo Ullman is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at Landmark on Main Street, located at 232 Main Street #1.
Leo Ullman will be sharing his story and discussing his illustrated memoir, "Leo, A Hidden Child in WWII." The memoir tells the tale of a young Jewish child who was separated from his parents and forced into hiding in Amsterdam during the Holocaust. Ullman's parents, also in hiding, had no knowledge of his whereabouts or safety. After surviving and reuniting post-war, they arrived in Port Washington in 1947.

Port Washington artist Michelle Shain illustrated his memoir and will join Ullman in conversation. The book is geared towards older children to adults and will be available for purchase and signing. Families are welcome. It is recommended for 5th graders and older.
The event is sponsored by PWPL, Landmark on Main Street, and Friends of the Library. It is being presented as part of the Landmark’s "Conversations From Main Street" series, sponsored by the Angela and Scott Jaggar Foundation.
