Macy's Loss Prevention Officer Injured In Manhasset Robbery: Police
The man tried to steal sunglasses and injured a loss prevention officer's right leg, police say.
MANHASSET, NY — A man was arrested in connection with a robbery at Macy's in Manhasset on Saturday afternoon, Nassau police said.
William Paek, 32, who is homeless, entered Macy's, at 1100 Northern Boulevard, around 3 p.m., police said. A loss prevention officer recognized Paek from a previous theft, police said. The officer saw Paek place sunglasses from a display case into his front pocket and leave the store without paying, police said. The loss prevention officer approached Paek, and a struggle ensued, causing the store employee to suffer an injury to his right leg, police said. During the fight, Paek pulled out the sunglasses and threw them on the floor, damaging them, police said.
Officers found Paek in the Macy's parking lot and arrested him, bringing him to a nearby hospital for evaluation, police said. The loss prevention officer declined medical attention at the store, police said.

Paek was charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and petty larceny. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
