NORTH HILLS, NY — The new luxury home development that Toll Brothers is building on the former St. Ignatius Jesuit retreat property on Searingtown Road is now open to sales, the company announced Friday.

Manhasset Crest is a gated community of 46 homes, selling for $3 million and up. The property was originally a circa-1920 Gold Coast estate owned by Nicholas and Genevieve Brady sitting on over 30 acres. Toll Brothers, based in PA, purchased the site in 2021 for $38.4 million.

The development is one of the largest new homes construction projects this far west on Long Island.

There are six home types, ranging from 3,228 to 4,747 square feet. The model home is under construction and will be finished by spring 2023, Toll Brothers said in a news release.

The five-bedroom model home, called the Gatsby Modern Farmhouse, has a two-story great room and a two-story outdoor living room. A website has 3-D walk-through graphics of the homes.

Jason Friedman, from Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, represented the Manhasset Bay Group, which purchased the property in 2013 from the Jesuit order and then represented Manhasset Bay in the 2021 sale to Toll Brothers. He told Newsday in 2021 that the development is unique on the North Shore.

"People will be able to buy something new instead of having to pay up to be in a gated community of older homes. It’s going to be the best product around for someone who wants to be in a gated community."

The 72,000 square-foot Brady mansion, later the Jesuit priests' retreat house, was torn down in December 2013.

Manhasset Crest is in the Manhasset Union Free School District.
