PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Margarita's Cafe has opened in Port Washington, bringing the area more options for hearty burritos, sizzling fajitas, tasty tacos, cheesy enchiladas and crunchy chimichangas. The Mexican restaurant officially welcomed customers to its Manorhaven Boulevard location Saturday afternoon, the restaurant told Patch.

Classic cars and celebratory balloons out front welcomed hungry patrons to the new eatery, a chain that operates locations throughout Long Island in East Meadow, Hicksville, Smithtown, Williston Park, Freeport, Merrick, Port Jefferson Station, Wantagh and Long Beach.

Caitlin Fradelakis said she and her husband enjoyed a pleasant date night Sunday at Margarita's, splitting a plate of nachos and tacos.

"Really great vibe," she said. "Live music. Strong drinks."

Lisa Heller Marschall agreed the drinks were excellent. She called the decor "beautiful" and highlighted that the business seemed open to improving the experience for people looking for more plant-based options.

"I will return!" she said.

Among the appetizers on the Port Washington menu: ceviche de Camarones, made with shrimp vegetables and cocktail sauce and served with plantain chips; chicken taquitos topped with fresh cheese, cream and guacamole with tampiquena; deep-fried jalapeno poppers stuffed with cheddar cheese and Mexican quesadillas.
When it comes to tacos, enchiladas and burritos, patrons will have their pick from chicken, beef, steak, chorizo, shrimp, fish and pork. Soups and salads are also offered, including the house mixed salad, which comes with cucumber, tomato and grilled zuchini and comes in a crunchy taco shell bowl. The salad is topped with cheese.

Bar patrons can choose from tapas specials every day of the week, such as an $8.95 lunch special Monday through Friday, all-you-can-eat tacos Monday night for $17.95 and dinner-for-two on Wednesday night for $20. On Saturday and Sunday, a brunch menu offers $7.95 unlimited mimosas and bloody Mary's from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Reservations are generally not accepted at Margarita's, according to the chain's website. The Port Washington location is not yet on Uber Eats or DoorDash, though many others use the delivery services.

A grand opening celebration is planned Friday, Dec. 20.
