National Night Out In Manhasset Scheduled For Aug. 3

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — National Night Out, a nationwide community-building campaign focused on raising awareness about crime and drug prevention, returns to Manhasset Tuesday.

"It is so important that we work to foster unity in the community, and that's exactly what National Night Out does," said North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth. "This annual event focuses on neighborhood anti-crime efforts and drug-prevention awareness while also building better stronger relationships between police and the community. After last year's virtual program, we are very much looking forward to the return of an in-person National Night Out."

Festivities will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Whitney Pond Park — and will include live music, dancing, education on crime prevention, refreshments, raffles, and giveaways.

"If this last year has taught us anything, it has taught us all, as a community, that we stand stronger together," said North Hempstead Town Councilmember Viviana Russell (D-District 1). "That is the purpose of National Night Out. Creating a stronger relationship between underserved communities and the officers charged with the task of serving and protecting them."

Another National Night Out event will take place in Westbury on Tuesday. Unlike the one in Manhasset, the event in Westbury will start at 5 p.m. and include a parade.
