New Sushi Bar From Former Nobu Chef To Open In Nassau
Sushi by Kuryu is opening Monday in the Roslyn Heights seafood market. Chef Teruo Yoshioka was a sous chef at Nobu Downtown.

ROSLYN HEIGHTS, NY — Sushi by Kuryu will officially open Monday at Roslyn Seafood Gourmet, the latest sushi bar from a former Nobu Downtown chef. Teruo Yoshioka was a sous chef at the famed Manhattan sushi restaurant before launching a catering service and then Kuryu New York Kitchen Lab in Park Slope, a "unique Japanese takeout delicatessen."
The Roslyn Heights Kuryu sushi bar had a soft opening this week and local resident Lynsey Wolfson tried it out.
"Fish is so fresh and everything was amazing," she wrote.

Yoshioka, born in Japan, worked at Nobu for 16 years, and when the pandemic hit he created the Japanese takeout model to satisfy the"growing demands from foodists who [were] unable to dine out due to the...situation," according to Kuryu's website.
After closing the Park Slope business "due to a labor shortage," Yoshioka provided catering and food for "exclusive private dining."
