North Shore University Hospital Named A Magnet Hospital For Nursing
The Manhasset hospital, recently named LI's best by U.S. News & World Report, has been recognized for excellence in nursing care.
MANHASSET, NY — North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) in Manhasset has been re-certified for Magnet status in nursing care for 2022. According to Northwell Health, only 586 globally have been named by the Magnet Recognition Program since 1983. The designation is given based on patient care and nursing excellence.
“We are thrilled at the recertification,” David Hirschwerk, NSUH's medical director, said.
“Our nurses are outstanding and their sophistication, compassion and dedication provide the foundation to build and grow elite programs in our building that serve our community.”

According to Northwell, Magnet-status hospitals show improved patient experiences and outcomes.
U.S. News & World Report ranked NSUH fifth overall in New York State. Plainview Hospital was also awarded 2022 Magnet status.
