NorthShoreAlert: West Shore Road Closed in Both Directions

Because of an accident, the road may not open till Monday at 5 p.m. or later, officials said.

West Shore Road in Port Washington is closed in both directions through Monday afternoon, or later, authorities said.

The road is closed due to an accident that “took down three large poles,” according to a Port Washington-Manhasset Office of Emergency Management message sent via NorthShoreAlert.org.

According to NorthShoreAlert.org, Nassau Police says the road may not reopen until between 5 and 8 p.m.

It is not certain whether Harbor Park Drive will be accessible from the south or from the north, according to Peter Forman, commissioner of the Port Washington-Manhasset Office of Emergency Management.

People traveling north of the closure will use Port Washington Boulevard to Beacon Hill Road and then West Shore Road, Port Washington-Manhasset Office of Emergency Management said.

Reports indicated that wind conditions have been “hampering restoration,” according to Port Washington-Manhasset Office of Emergency Management.
