Northwell Health Among World's Most Ethical Companies

There were just 135 companies worldwide recognized in the 2018 rankings.

Northwell Health was recently chosen as one of the world’s most ethical companies in 2018 for the fourth consecutive year.

The health care system was given this honor by Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.

Northwell Health is among 135 companies recognized in the 2018 rankings. Honorees span 23 countries and 57 industries, including one of seven non-profit health care providers.

“Northwell’s standing amongst the most ethical companies in the world speaks to our culture of compassion and quality care we deliver to our patients along with the high standards we expect from our employee caregivers,” Michael J. Dowling, president and CEO of Northwell Health, said in a press release. “This honor reminds us that we must hold ourselves accountable in everything we do each and every day.”

The Northwell Health system includes 23 hospitals and 650 outpatient facilities, making it the largest health care system in New York.

To determined the World’s Most Ethical Companies, Ethisphere Institute judged companies based on their performance in five key areas: corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance and ethics.

Ethisphere Institute also took into consideration measuring and improving culture, leading authentically and committing to transparency, diversity and inclusion.
