Port Police Connects with Residents in Most Recent “Coffee with Cops"
New Opportunity for Residents to Ask Questions and Voice Concerns
The Port Washington Police District (PWPD) recently hosted a successful “Coffee with Cops” event as part of its community policing efforts that provide residents with various opportunities to ask questions and address concerns. This event series, which the District plans to host multiple times per year, helps connect the District directly with residents and provide a comfortable environment to discuss topics of concern, learn about police ongoings and ask questions.
“The Port Washington Police District prides itself on being deeply ingrained with the community we serve and these events provide us with new, valuable opportunities to connect with residents,” said PWPD Chairman JB Meyer. “Our officers can’t be everywhere at all times of day, so it is extremely valuable to us to hear from residents about their concerns that they may not necessarily feel the need to call us about or submit an official report. For this, and many other reasons, are exactly why these events are so valuable for our community.”
Port Washington Police District Commissioners, Chiefs and Officers hosted the second “Coffee with Cops” event of the year at Crazy Cakes Café, located at 52 Main Street in Port Washington. Several dozen residents participated in the two-hour long event and were joined by Police Commissioners JB Meyer, Angela Lawlor-Mullins and Sean McCarthy, Chief Robert Del Muro and Deputy Chiefs William Zwerlein, Assistant Chief Kevin McCarroll, as well as Sergeant Griffith, Detective Guzzello and police officers Cortright and Puton. During the event, residents discussed topics such as traffic concerns, public safety issues and the District’s new headquarters plan.
