Port Washington Educational Assembly to Hold Forum on School Bond Proposal
The event takes place Feb. 26 at the Port Washington Public Library.

The Port Washington Educational Assembly, or PWEA, will hold a 90-minute forum on the proposed $70 million school bond. The forum takes place Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m., in the Lapham Meeting Room at the Port Washington Public Library.
The forum is open to the public, and will have “ample time” for questions from those in attendance, the PWEA said.
The panel includes Jim Ansel, a professional in the field of public school building construction, Dave Sattinger, a Port Washington public school parent, and Frank Russo, president of the PWEA, who served on the community facilities bond committee at the request of the school board. The forum moderator will be Tom Schweitzer, a law professor at Touro Law Center.

According to the PWEA, the panel aims to discuss the specific pros and cons of the proposed facility construction and repair work, the timing of the budget vote, the actual cost of the bond to the average Port homeowner, whether the official statement of the Board of Education is fully open and straightforward on the cost impact to the average homeowner, and whether there are significant fiscal changes coming in the next few budgets that would enable all or most of the needed work to be done without any new bonds.
