Port Washington Firefighters Douse Sands Point House Fire
No injuries were reported, officials say.

Port Washington firefighters battled a blaze in Sands Point Tuesday evening, authorities said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the house fire at 9 Shorewood Drive, at about 6:40 p.m., after they were alerted by the Sands Point Police, Port Washington Fire Chief Brian Waterson told Patch.
“A male and a female in their 70s were safely removed as well as a younger male occupant,” Waterson said. “The occupants were treated at the scene and released.”

The fire was contained to one bedroom, Waterson noted.
Officials say the fire may have originated from an electric fireplace.

The fire was extinguished within 25 minutes with the help of approximately 30 firefighters, Waterson said.
No injuries were reported.
