Port Washington Neighbors Divided On Film Studio Plan: Report
While some neighbors expressed reservations about a proposed movie studio plan at a village meeting Wednesday night, others were optimistic.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Neighbors weighed in on a proposed movie studio in Port Washington North at a packed a village meeting Wednesday night, according to a report. Developer Parviz Farahzad bought the former Publishers Clearing House headquarters building on Channel Drive five years ago and has proposed turning it into a sister film studio to his Bethpage location. Plans call for raise the roof on a 100,000-square-foot building to 65 feet and converting a smaller building into office space and storage.
On Wednesday, residents expressed concerns and optimism about the plan. Neighbors told News 12 Long Island they had concerns over changing the zoning code to allow for such a height, what it could mean for future development and whether the project will ultimately be "ugly." Others said they were happy it would bring jobs to the area.
