Port Washington Policeman Dies In Northern State Parkway Crash
Brandon Wilson, 34, was killed in a one-vehicle crash on the Northern State Parkway. He served the PWPD for five years.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Authorities have identified the motorist killed in this month's crash on the Northern State Parkway as a Port Washington police officer.
Just before 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 13, New York State Police responded to the report about a single-car crash on the Northern State Parkway.
According to officials, 34-year-old Brandon Wilson was traveling east of exit 34 in North Hempstead when he left the parkway, swerved into the southbound shoulder, and crashed into two trees and a light pole.

It is not immediately clear what caused the crash.
The Port Washington Police Department issued a statement after Wilson's identity was released by authorities.

"It is with deep regret and sadness that the Port Washington Police District acknowledges the untimely passing of Police Officer Brandon Wilson," the statement read. "He honorably served the Port Washington community for the past 5 years. Police Officer Wilson made a profound impression on the many lives he touched. He will be sorely missed by all those who had the privilege to serve alongside him."
