Port Washington Pool Hours Extended; Cooling Center Opens
Officials opened a cooling center in Port Washington and extended Town of North Hempstead pool hours.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The Town of North Hempstead has opened cooling centers, including one at Port Washington Senior Center, and temporarily extended Town pool hours to help residents beat the heat.
Cooling centers offer air conditioning, cold water, masks and hand sanitizer, along with a place to sit down and relax, as residents try to stay cool amid high temperatures and humidity.
The cooling centers will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., officials said. Locations include Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park, Port Washington Senior Center and the Town of North Hempstead “Yes We Can” Community Center in Westbury.

In addition, all Town pools will remain open Monday and Tuesday until 8 p.m., officials said. That includes the Manorhaven Pool Complex at Manorhaven Beach Park.
