Port Washington School Gives 25 Families Full Thanksgiving Dinner
The superintendent of schools called the annual food drive a "phenomenal opportunity" for students to learn what it means to give to others.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A Port Washington elementary school has once again stepped up to make Thanksgiving a little more special for more than two-dozen families. Each year, students at Guggenheim Elementary School help make the holiday special for several families. This year, the school was able to give 25 families a complete traditional Thanksgiving dinner through a building-wide food drive.
Michael Hynes, superintendent of the Port Washington Union Free School District, called the annual food drive a "phenomenal opportunity" for students to learn what it means to give to others.
"This initiative speaks volumes about the character of our students and staff in Port Washington," he said. "We are so proud of our students for their dedication and contributions to support families in need."
