Port Washington Student Swims to Raise Funds for Cancer Research

Port Washington resident and student Thomas Maynard, 12, recently participated in a Swim Across America fundraiser at the Nassau County Aquatic Center to help raise funds for cancer research.

He joined more than 35 student athletes from across Long Island. Some of the students and teams participating also submitted a video of their efforts to the Long Island Sports Challenge, a contest from Team Up 4 Community and Bethpage Federal Credit Union that encourages community involvement in student athletes, in the hopes of winning up to $5,000 in sports grants.  

Visitors to the site can view the YouTube videos posted and vote for their favorite team.
