Port Washington Veterans Day Car Parade: 'Your Day To Be Commended'

The annual Veterans Day Car Parade kicks off Friday morning and is open to all veterans in the community.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Port Washington's third annual Veterans Day Car Parade is scheduled for tomorrow morning. The parade kicks off at 9:45 a.m., starting on Campus Drive and winding its way north on Port Washington Blvd., to Main Street, and will end at the Sousa Band Shell.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1819 and the American Legion Post 509 will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony at the band shell at 11 a.m., the time of the unofficial end of WWI.

"All veterans are welcome to participate in the car parade and the service," Fred Falconer of the American Legion said in an announcement, "whether a member of our local organizations or not."

"Today is your day to be commended on your service and sacrifice to not only our town, but our country."

Vehicles should assemble at 9:15 a.m. on Campus Drive.

Everyone in the community is welcome to attend the parade and ceremony.

"Come watch the parade along the parade route to cheer on these men and women who fought and served for our freedom."
