Senior Living Facility Rebrands As The Sinclair At Port Washington
A transformational $28-million renovation plan is currently underway for the Port Washington senior facility.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The Harborside, one of Long Island’s best-known senior living communities, is celebrating a new beginning as The Sinclair at Port Washington, opening a new era of flexibility and choice for older adults.
The Sinclair takes its name from Nobel Prize-winning author Sinclair Lewis, who lived in Port Washington in the early 1900s during a formative time in his literary career.
A transformational $28-million renovation plan is currently underway to refresh apartments, common areas, and amenity spaces—positioning The Sinclair as a new high watermark for independent senior living on Long Island and across the broader New York metropolitan region.

“While the location and fundamentals of the property have always been first-class, The Harborside struggled due to limited reinvestment following its bankruptcy nearly a decade ago,” said Curt Schaller, Co-Founder and Principal of Focus Healthcare Partners LLC. “The Sinclair's no-entrance-fee rental model, Chelsea Senior Living’s operational excellence, and Focus Healthcare Partner’s $28 million investment commitment will combine to create a new high watermark for independent living on Long Island."
Various upgrades for The Sinclair are planned including a comprehensive wellness center with therapy, fitness, and spa components, a new culinary program, on‑site movie theater and expanded outdoor recreation featuring pickleball and bocce courts.
