'Town Crier' Mural Aims To Revitalize Port Washington: Report

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A large mural aims to help restore downtown Port Washington to its former glory by acting as a visually appealing storytelling device that will help residents and visitors learn about the area's history.

A 10-foot-tall "Town Crier" painting stretches more than 100 feet on a wall near Main Street and North Maryland Avenue, Newsday reported. It marks important dates in history, such as the 1644 settling of Cow Neck, now known as Port Washington.

The mural was unveiled Nov. 10.
